Plantronics today announced that it will, for the third consecutive year, be the official sponsor and headsets supplier for the Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC), the world's most popular e-sport competition. Through this sponsorship, Plantronics is reinforcing its commitment to the gaming community with its popular GameCom® product line and with the introduction of a new headset designed for video game tournament environments. Plantronics' new GameCom headset will debut at PAX Prime in Seattle on August 31, 2012 and will be featured at the ESWC World Grand Finals, which are being held at Paris Games Week from October 31 - November 4, 2012.

This renewed partnership between Plantronics, a global leader in communication headsets, and ESWC includes hosting rights for many individual country qualifiers leading-up to the world finals.

"Today's gaming environments require outstanding audio to make the experience feel realistic and fully immersive," said Stuart Bradshaw, head of marketing in Europe and Africa at Plantronics. "With that in mind, and in collaboration with Dolby, we've created a suite of gaming products that not only amps up the user experience but can distinctly improve player performance. So whether you're a hard-core pro gamer or just jump in occasionally, Plantronics delivers."

Matthieu Dallon, founder of the Electronic Sports World Cup, adds, "Plantronics has been a partner of the Electronic Games World Cup since 2007. After years of collaboration, we continue to appreciate the brand's increasing involvement in e-sports by offering headsets that are perfectly customized to competitive events, whether for playing online or on the world's largest stages."

In addition to its presence at the World Grand Final, Plantronics will also organize several 2012 ESWC regional qualifiers, including ESWC's North American final in the United States, being held during PAX Prime 2012, a major video gaming convention held in Seattle from August 31 - September 1, 2012.

About The Electronic Sports World Cup

The Electronic Sports World Cup--ESWC, was launched in France in 2003. From its earliest editions at the Futuroscope, the World Cup has organized video game tournaments on all five continents. At the Carrousel du Louvre in 2005, and at the Paris-Bercy in 2006, the event became the standard in video game competitions and live-match showcases. The 2008 World Grand Final was held in San Jose, California. In 2011, the ESWC won over the Paris Games Week public with five days of shows performed in front of over 150,000 visitors and an online audience of two million. At the 2012 Paris Games Week, the ESWC will once again take on the challenge of satisfying both purists of electronic sports and video game fans in an atmosphere of festivity and sportsmanship.
