• Wind farm is being renewed after 18 years
• Four wind turbines with 3.0 MW each for own portfolio

Cuxhaven, June 21, 2016 - PNE WIND AG has begun repowering the 18 year old Altenbruch I wind farm. At this coastal site located near Cuxhaven, preparatory work is now being performed. Nine modern Nordex N117 wind turbines with a rated output of 3.0 MW each will be installed here. The new 27 MW wind farm will replace the older wind farm with a nominal output of 20.8 MW comprised of 16 Nordex N60 wind turbines. Despite the reduction in the number of turbines, the amount of electricity generated at this wind farm location should be more than doubled.

The Altenbruch I wind farm was commissioned in close cooperation with the landowners in 1998. The older wind turbines will now be gradually shut down and dismantled. Parallel to this, the construction of the new and more powerful systems will take place.

In the first step of this repowering project, the access roads to the new turbine locations will be improved. Subsequently, the foundations with a 25 meter deep in the middle pile will be completed and the necessary power cables to connect the wind farm to the newly constructed PNE WIND owned substation will be laid. In the final stages of construction, the installation of the steel towers, nacelles and blades will take place.

The new Nordex N117 turbines will have a hub height of 91 meters and a total height to the tip of the rotor blade of 149.9 meters. The nine wind turbines are scheduled to be constructed and put into operation later this year. For four of these turbines with a total nominal output of 12 MW, PNE WIND intends to operate and manage the turbines within its internally held wind farm portfolio after commissioning.
