The Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy authorizes Direct Energie Generation to operate a natural gas power plant in Landivisiau
The Poweo Direct Energie Group welcomes the signing of a ministerial order by the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, published on January the 18th, allowing the Group to operate a generation unit for its CCGT (Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) power plant in Landivisiau (Brittany). Alongside the debate on the energetic transition, this decision fully confirms the French state's commitment in favour of the project as well as the central role of flexible generation assets during the energetic transition.
This plant is fully in line with the "Pacte Electrique Breton" (PEB), which objectives are, amongst others, to secure the power supply of the Brittany Region, one of the vulnerable zones of the French national electricity system. Signed on 14th December 2010, the PEB has materialized the cooperation and the commitment of many stakeholders including the Brittany Region, ADEME (Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Energie) and RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Electricité).
Following a tender organized by the French Government, this project has been granted to a consortium consisting of the generation subsidiary of Poweo Direct Energie (Direct Energie Generation) for 60% of the capital and Siemens Project Ventures (SPV) for 40%. This consortium has set up a dedicated project company, the "Compagnie Electrique de Bretagne" (CEB), with the aim to build this 446 MW maximum capacity CCGT power plant, in Landivisiau.
The CEB will invest approximately 400 M? in this project and plans to have recourse to debt through project financing. The start of the construction is planned in 2014 for a full operational service in winter 2016-2017.
