Munich, April 10, 2012. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group has
acquired the exclusive free-TV rights to the American TV
series "Hannibal" for its German-speaking and
Scandinavian TV stations. The crime series can be seen on
ProSiebenSat.1 stations in Germany, Austria, Switzerland,
Sweden, Norway, and Denmark from 2013. As well as the
free-TV rights, the Group has also acquired the
video-on-demand and pay-TV rights.
Rüdiger Böss, Senior Vice President Group Programming
Acquisitions: "The character of psychiatrist Dr.
Hannibal Lecter is a true brand following box-office
smashes like "The Silence of the Lambs", and is
sure to be a hit with audiences as a series as well. We are
delighted that we have secured the broadcasting rights for
our family of European stations."
"Hannibal" is produced by Bryan Fuller. US actor
Hugh Dancy takes the role of FBI agent Will Graham. The
series will be shown on NBC in the USA. The station ordered
13 episodes of the show in early 2012 on the basis of the
script.
"Hannibal" is based on the "Red Dragon"
series of novels by Thomas Harris. It begins as FBI agent
Will Graham meets his - still young - mentor Hannibal
Lecter.
