PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) with a Myanmar company-United Mercury Group (UMG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to build a precast concrete factory in Myanmar, the signing was signed at the Ministry of Public Works, witnessed Indonesian Public Works Minister Djoko Kirmanto and Myanmar Construction Minister Kyaw Lwin (18/7).

Director of Human Capital and Bussines Development Ganda Kusuma said WIKA and UMG will form a joint venture (JV). The company will realize the construction of the factory on an area of 5 hectares provided UMG. "This factory takes a year," he said.

For the first phase of construction of a concrete factory, the joint venture should be poured joint investment of IDR 150 billion with a production capacity of 27 thousand tons per year.

The Expansion into Myanmar is a form of WIKA strategy to be the best construction companies in Southeast Asia. Director of Operations IV WIKA Destiawan Suharjono said overseas expansion was started in 2006 because of potential infrastructure projects overseas is huge.

While in Indonesia, Myanmar delegation also visited the WIKA Beton's Precast concrete factory in the WIKA Industrial Estate Bogor and visit some projects filmed WIKA. Among other; Bogor Outer Ring Road Section 2 (Kedung Halang-Kedung Badak) Bogor, Rusunawa Rempoa in Pesanggrahan South Jakarta and Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
