RSC Energia: Assembly of Ascent Unit for ILV Zenit-3SLBF is completed in Baikonur

On December 16, 2017 assembly teams of RSC Energia, S.A.Lavochkin NPO and branch TsENKI of Space Center 'Yuzhny' completed assembly of the ascent unit for launch of the integrated launch vehicle (ILV) consisting of Zenit-2SB launch vehicle, Fregat-SB upper stage and Angosat telecommunication spacecraft (SC) in the integration and test facility of Site 31 of the Baikonur Launch Site.

After performing preparatory operations the Angosat SC and Fregat-SB US were placed in a horizontal position, and the payload fairing was installed.

Further, the ascent unit was transported to the ILV processing facility (Site 42) for assembly of the integrated launch vehicle.

The launch of Zenit-2SB LV with Fregat-SB US and Angosat SC is scheduled for December 26, 2017 from Site 45 of the Baikonur Launch Site.

Angosat is a spacecraft developed by RSC Energia in the interests of the Republic of Angola. It is designed for C- and Ku-bands broadcasting within the territory of the Republic of Angola, as well as the entire African continent. The Angosat project provides for development of a communication satellite with a repeater, its launch into a geostationary orbit and construction of the ground communications and television broadcasting infrastructure.
