Our company's work on the flight deck of the future, including our new pilot voice recognition technology, received significant media attention this week in a CNN segment online titled "The Future of Travel."

Geoff Shapiro, a senior systems engineer in our Advanced Technology Center, is prominently featured in the segment, during which he explains to CNN's Thom Patterson how some of the advancements that our company is working on will affect millions of airplane passengers for decades to come.

"Synthetic vision is a virtual version of the world," explained Shapiro during a demonstration in our Concept Flight Deck - a simulator designed to help perfect  near market technologies. He also explained the advantages of our heads-up display and airport moving maps.

"Our technology here lets you know where you are and where you need to go," said Shapiro, who works at our facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and designs the displays and controls that are in the future flight deck. "If you look at the evolution of technology in the flight deck, it's exponential. We're living in a very exciting time."
