During the meeting with the employees of the subsidiary of JSC Rosseti (Kubanenergo, JSC), which took place in Sochi, the member of the Federation Council of the Krasnodar Territory - Vitaly Ignatenko - mentioned about the high level of preparation of power grid infrastructure of the resort city for the upcoming autumn-winter period.

"Kubanenergo, JSC continues its work, so to say, with the same Olympic pace. Now the preparation of city infrastructure of Sochi for operation in winter conditions is being carried out. Tomorrow we will again discuss its progress at a meeting of the Public Olympic Council of the city, and I can give a positive evaluation to the work of power supply sector, "- said Vitaly Ignatenko.

The plan of preparation for the autumn-winter period provides a range of organizational and technical measures. They include repair of substation equipment and overhead and cable lines of different voltage class, clearing the routes from trees and shrubs/ as well as the expansion of routes in protected areas. Particular attention is to be paid to anti-icing measures.

In particular, in Sochi power district old fittings of to high-voltage overhead lines are replaced with modern spiral fittings - 78 (in total). Spiral fittings are a new and very promising technology, its application provides additional strength to wires and reduces their wearing. More than 300 columns and over 750 insulators are replaced in overhead lines of distribution grids.

Major overhaul of about 30 distribution stations, transformer substations, as well as more than 23 km of overhead lines is finished, routes of overhead lines of 116 square hectares are cleared. These measures are necessary to eliminate the possibility of technological failures, connected with trees, falling on wires.

Experts of Kubanenergo, JSC also replaced more than 24 km of branches to inputs of subscribers in Sochi: now 0.4 kV overhead line with inputs to houses connects not a bare wire, but a modern self-supporting and insulated one. Its use greatly increases the reliability of power supply. Insulation protects the line from accidental wires whipping and short circuits, reduces build-ups of snow and ice. New high-tech wire eliminates the possibility of unauthorized connections to the grid, and most importantly - can significantly reduce the risk of electrical injuries appearance.

"Reliable operation of power grid sector of Kuban during the autumn-winter period is provided by several conditions. It is the willingness of equipment, personnel readiness and preparedness for rescue and recovery operations. All these activities are successfully completed. This is the first winter after the Olympics, and we are thoroughly prepared for it. The Sochi branch conducted maintenance, thermal control and diagnostics equipment, formed an emergency supply of materials and equipment, prepared Transportation, conducted training exercises with the staff, "- said in a meeting with Senator CEO" Kubanenergo "Alexander Gavrilov.

Fulfilled power engineering activities are designed to ensure a safe and stable operation of power grid equipment during the period of winter peak demand
