On May 28, the final events of the International Youth Energy Forum started in St. Petersburg. The team of the Republic of Belarus joined the teams of France, Germany, China and Russia that got acquainted with each other through joint work on internal format during visits to Moscow and Tai'an (China).

Young power engineering specialists began the work on finalizing the projects according to the results of inter-module interaction. The teams work in an intensive mode, because the final defense of the projects before the international expert jury will be held on June 01, 2017. The French team, without a rest, is in search of an optimal scheme for construction of 'smart metering' system of electricity consumption, which will be mutually beneficial for consumers and supplying organizations; all the efforts of the German team is aimed at maximizing the capacity utilization of distributed generation in the framework of the project of 'virtual' power plant.

The second day of the Forum was extremely interesting and informative for the participants - they had a one-day visit to the city of Kaliningrad, JSC 'Yantarenergo'. During the visit, the young specialists visited the substation 'Beregovaya', which will provide the stadium with energy - the object of the world FIFA World Cup-2018. The participants noted the high level of technical solution performance for power supply in such an important area. Power engineering specialists visited the office of the Executive apparatus of JSC 'Yantarenergo' at the invitation of the Director General of the Company Igor Makovsky who together with the heads of relevant divisions presented the key characteristics of the energy system of the Kaliningrad region, the direction of its modernization and also demonstrated the functionality of the remote control and monitoring system of power facilities. The presentation of SmartGrid project implemented on the territory of the region was of the utmost interest of the Forum participants.

While commenting on the visit of young specialists from different countries, I. Makovsky said: 'We were honored to invite the engineers of a new generation, engineers of the future, who cannot be surprised with the equipment our predecessors worked with. There is confidence that each of them will find something special during the visit to Kaliningrad. And the principles applied in our work will be useful for energy systems of other countries.'

The key to strengthening the international cooperation of participating countries was the joint tree planting in the Alley of Friendship of Young Engineers.

The participants had an extremely busy schedule, at the same time there was a place for sport events, a tournament on mini-football was held between the teams, the winner was the French team, and for cultural events: the participants visited the Mariinsky theatre, where they got acquainted with the jewel of the Russian ballet - the 'Swan lake' ballet.

Before the final defense, which will determine the winning project, only one day is left - the teams entered the final straight. We wish them success!
