The Chamber Defense Commission visits Sabca Charleroi

On September 28, 2016, members of the Chamber Defense Commission, led by chairwoman Ms Karolien Grosemans, visited SABCAMaintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility in Gosselies (Charleroi).

During the facility tour, the Members of the Commission have been given the opportunity to see extensive maintenance operations on F-16 aircraft, coming from 4 different customer Countries.

In July 2016, the Flight Line Crew rolled out its 1300th F-16 from SABCACharleroi.

The importance of the Belgian F16 program, as well as the related transfer of technology which has been induced, were illustrated and emphasized during the visit.

The F-16 program enabled the Belgium Aerospace Industry to make a technology and competitive leap, resulting in competitiveness, long term employment and value creation. Furthermore, it allowed SABCAto position itself as a European Leader in Aerostructures and Actuation systems on civil aircraft and space markets.

It has also been mentioned to the Defense Commission that the F-16 replacement is a unique opportunity for Belgium industry to reinforce its competitive edge with respect to the international market and to ensure a strong and long-term future.

With strong shareholders (Dassault Group and GKN Aerospace/Fokker) and soon celebrating its first century in aerospace, SABCA1200 highly motivated employees master all skills from early phases of 'Build-to-Print' and 'Build-to-spec' programs to full customer support.
