As a dynamic company deeply involved in several new major aerostructures programs, SABCA is committed to continuously invest in state-of-the-art facilities that enables us, not only to offer new technical capabilities to our clients, but also to meet the most stringent environmental requirements like the REACH regulations.

In this context, SABCA proudly announces a new automatic surface treatments installationfor large partsthat will be fully operational at our Brussels plant around Easter 2012.

The installation will have a triple capability :

1. Anodization

  • OAC (BF4), and
  • TSA, compatible with the new Airbus requirements

The baths will have a useful dimension of

  • Length 7,20 m(7,35 m in manual mode)
  • Height 3,65 m
  • Width 0,70 m

2. Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

  • Dye penetrant inspection, with electrostatic application in the bath

3. Painting

  • Hydrosolver paints: 3 cabins (two for vertical positioning, one automatic for small parts). This process is already certified for Dassault and Airbus
  • Solver-containing paints are also available.

Our new installation will meet all energy savingsand environmental normslike REACH :

  • Progressive getting-out from hexavalent chrome, through the introduction of sulfo-tartric anodizing (TSA)
  • Cleaning of the aspiration fumes before release (air cleaner)
  • Recycling of the rinsing waters and re-use in closed circuit
  • Closed baths and mobile aspiration device, allowing a reduction of water evaporation and heat losses.

The new facility will of course first be used for SABCA's own programs for Airbus, Dassault, Lockheed-Martin, Astrium, etc...

Nevertheless, plenty of capacitywill remain available for third parties workand we are convinced that many companies working in aerospace could make a very good usage of this exceptional opportunity.

SABCA is a leading Belgian Aerospace company since more than 90 years, employing 1000 highly trained persons. SABCA is active in civil aircraft design and manufacture (Airbus, Dassault, Gulfstream...), military aircraft overhaul and upgrades (F16, Mirage F1, Alphajet, helicopters, etc…) as well as in space programs (Ariane, Vega). These activities cover structural work as well as thrust vectoring systems and systems integration. SABCA has plants in Brussels and Charleroi, and a fully owned subsidiary SABCA Limburg, specialized in aerospace composites.
