WORK VISIT

The largest tire recycling plant in Spain, part of Valoriza, is located in Chiloeches Industrial Estate (Guadalajara).

Valoriza's Chiloeches plant is the largest recycling facility of its kind in Spain, processing around 40,000 tons of tires a year from all over central Spain. Around 6000 tons of tires from Seseña landfill site are crushed at the factory rather than burning them.

The process involves separating the three elements which make up wheels: fiber, steel and rubber. These materials can be recycled. Fibers can be used for fuel, steel returns to the primary production process, i.e., to the steel mills, whilst rubber has several uses: it can be used as fuel, crushed for use in children's play areas and artificial sports pitches, or mixed with asphalt.

Valoriza's Chiloeches plant employs 25 people and turns over 3.5 million euros a year.
