Award

The General Hospital, which has a development budget of around EUR 92 million, will serve around 1.2 million people in the south of the Mexican capital.

The Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) has awarded a consortium led by Sacyr Concesiones the concession of the new General Hospital of the South Regional Delegation of Mexico City. The project includes the financing, design, construction and equipment of the hospital and its operation and maintenance for a period of 23 years.

The initial investment in construction and equipment is close to EUR 92 million. The construction stage will begin later this year and will carry on until the third quarter of 2019.

The General Hospital will serve around 1.2 million people in the south of the Mexican capital. It will have a total of 250 beds and 36 doctor's offices to provide 32 medical specialties, with a total area of 33,480 m2.

First hospital in concession in Mexico

The South Regional Delegation hospital is the first in Sacyr's concession system in Mexico, where the company is building three other hospitals, Querétaro, Pachuca and Acuña.

Last July, Sacyr Concesiones entered the Mexican market with the renovation, maintenance and conservation project of the Pyramids-Tulancingo-Pachuca road for a period of 10 years.

This entry into the Mexican concessions industry is part of the company's strategic plan, which is focused on the development of projects in the Americas, where it has a strong commitment to the development of infrastructures.

Sacyr has relevant international experience in the management of hospital assets. It currently manages seven hospitals, which have more than 2,513 beds, in Spain, Portugal and Chile.

16 assets in Latin America

With this new project, Sacyr Concesiones consolidates and strengthens its presence in Latin America, where it holds 16 assets: six highways and two hospitals in Chile and Mexico; four roads in Colombia; a road in Mexico; a highway in Peru; a corridor in Uruguay; and a corridor in Paraguay.

Sacyr Concesiones ranks sixth among transport infrastructure concession management companies in the world of Public Works Financing (PWF), with 38 assets distributed over 10 countries (Spain, Portugal, Chile, Colombia, Italy, Ireland, Peru, Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay), including: highways (2,560 miles), transport hubs, hospitals (2,513 beds).
