Award

• Sacyr Engineering and Infrastructures will double a highway and build a new urban area in the State of Florida. The budget of both projects totals USD 56 million.

• Sacyr enters the US with these contracts, achieving an important milestone of its 2015-2020 strategic program.

Sacyr has won its first infrastructure projects in the United States, thus achieving one of the milestones of its 2015-2020 strategic program.

Sacyr Infrastructures will carry out the expansion of the SR82 highway for the FDOT (Florida Department of Transportation), between Alabama Road South and South Homestead. With a budget of USD 44.4 million (EUR 36.2 million), it will double the existing road infrastructure by 6.5 miles (11 km), that is from a single carriageway with one lane in each direction to two separate lanes with two carriageways in each direction. These works will provide the road with greater vehicle capacity and safety.

Among others, the works include earthworks, drainage, pavement works, signage, beacons, safety barriers and lighting. In addition, Sacyr will undertake the widening of 2.7 miles (4.4 km) of the existing Hendry canal, while its bottom will be expanded by a width of up to 110 feet (33 m).

Moreover, in the Village of Palmetto Bay, in the Miami-Dade County, about 30 minutes south of the city of Miami, Sacyr will carry out, for an amount of USD 11.3 million (EUR 9.1 million), the design and construction of three new streets and the extension and improvement of two existing streets, with a total length of 1,800 m. Some of the works to be carried out include the construction of the supply, sanitation and drainage network; curbs and sidewalks; pavements; horizontal and vertical signage; burying of power and communications cables; street furniture; illumination; landscaping and a linear park.

Presence in the USA

Sacyr is already present in the country with two waste treatment projects taking place in Connecticut and Maryland, through its Sacyr Industrial and Sacyr Services subsidiaries. All these contracts will contribute to the progressive penetration of Sacyr in the US market, which is considered as one of the objectives of the current strategic program.
