September 15, 2016, Moscow - In 2016, Sberbank's clients made payments for over 1.7 tln roubles. This number increased 27% y-o-y. The share of cashless payments grew to 71% compared to 55% in 2015. Sberbank's payment services have been recognised by Global Finance to be the best in Central and Eastern Europe for the second year in a row. Igor Mamontov, Director of the Payments and Transfers Department at Sberbank, commented on further development of the Bank's payment business and new services.

In 1H16 clients made around 300 mln payments for utility services and mobile services using the automated regular account payment service 'Autopayment'. At least one 'Autopayment' service is turned on for every fourth Sberbank card.

In August 2016 the Bank introduced an option that allows customers to top up accounts of their 'Strelka' transportation cards in the automated mode if the card balance drops below a set value. Passengers are currently paying noncash for 54% trips in the suburbs of Moscow. You can top up the account of the transportation card through any self-service device of Sberbank, in the Sberbank Online system, and in the mobile application.

Big data analysis technology has enabled the launch of the Smart Account - a service that identifies the services the client pays for regularly and sends the client an SMS message when new charges are added. The message contains information about the service, the sum of the charge and the code. The client can pay bills by sending the code to the number 900. In August 2016 Sberbank's clients received more than 7 mln bills.

Igor Mamontov also spoke about Sberbank's services on the market of utility charges, as well as the creation of own settlement centres. A unique feature of Sberbank's settlement and information centre is that it has a new direct payment breakdown function. This involves the transfer of money directly to resource organizations, avoiding settlement intermediaries. The technology enables quick and full transfer of money to accounts of resource companies. This, in turn, will allow the latter to invest in development of infrastructure and, consequently, to provide the proper quality of utility services.

Currently information and settlement centres are operating in the Astrakhan, Belgorod, Vologda, Kirov, Tula, Irkutsk, Orel, Kemerovo, Kaluga regions, and the Republic of Mariy El.

'We are opening information and settlement centres in the regions, which support technological innovations, develop a civilised market of utility-related services and try to ensure non-stop supply of resources, timely services and modernisation of infrastructure,' said Igor Mamontov. 'Clients (individuals) may be confident that they are paying for the service they have been provided with and their payment will reach the destination thanks to this approach.'
