The UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) has taken up a number of contract options with Serco to continue to provide support at three key bases, RAF Northolt, RAF Brize Norton and RAF Cranwell/Scampton. The combined total value of these contract options is £36m.

In the first of these, Serco is continuing to deliver a range of services at RAF Northolt for a further two years from April 2015. The contract option, valued at a total of £19m over the two years, will see Serco's Aircraft Ground Engineers continue to provide Forward and Depth Maintenance for the BAe146 aircraft of No. 32 (The Royal) Squadron. Serco has been delivering this service at Northolt since 1995 and has been providing a broader multi-activity contract (MAC) and engineering services there since 1997. The private and first-class passenger handling services available at RAF Northolt are routinely used by British and foreign royalty, heads of state, government ministers and senior military personnel.

Secondly Serco will continue to provide support services for a further one year from October 2015 at RAF Brize Norton, with a value of £9m. Serco has been providing multi-activity and engineering support to RAF Brize Norton since 1997. 'Brize' is the Main Operating Base for the RAF's entire air transport and air-to-air refuelling fleets and is the largest station in the Royal Air Force with approximately 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civilian staff members.

Thirdly, Serco will continue to provide services for another year at RAF College Cranwell from April 2015, with a value of £8m. The company currently provides a range of services under its MAC which includes maintaining and overhauling the Red Arrows Hawk aircraft components; engine monitoring and hydraulic sampling. In addition it provides a range of motor transport, supply, fire & rescue, media and armoury services.

Commenting on the contract extensions, Matt Wiles, Serco's Managing Director, Defence, said: "We are delighted and privileged to be continuing to support the RAF. We have a dedicated, professional and diligent work force at each of these bases. They provide a wide variety of activities and our teams will be working hard to continually improve the service we provide."
