Serco Leisure announces today that it will be launching the new Netpulse-developed More Fitness app nationwide for all members at Serco-managed centres from 4 June 2018. The launch follows a successful trial period at Serco Leisure's Birmingham sites.

The app enables members to book classes and sporting activities, and automatically log workout sessions by taking a photo of equipment displays using xCapture. The photos are then digitised, allowing users to keep accurate records of their exercise sessions.

More Fitness can also be integrated with wearable devices, and will be offering a range of monthly healthy activity challenges, where members can earn reward points redeemable at their centre.

Jason Holtom, Serco Leisure's Managing Director said:

'With the Birmingham trial being such a success, the roll-out nationally for our More Fitness app was always going to be the logical next step. The benefits to our members are far reaching; we're seeing an increase in attendance, more class bookings, great uptake of the app challenges, and more engaged customers overall. '

Chris Puszczynski-Phelps, Management Information Manager at Serco Leisure said:

'We've always used technology to empower our customers fitness experiences, back in 2012 we were the first company in the UK to offer a dedicated mobile bookings solution for workout classes and sporting activities, and this year we're taking the next step.

'The More Fitness app still allows people to book into their activities, but we've now added functionality to encompass the entire fitness experience.'

Danny Woods, Netpulse's Head of Account Management, said: '

'We're delighted to be partnering with Serco Leisure to expand their More Fitness mobile platform nationally. The results they've seen in the trial phase are a perfect example of what can be achieved by providing a robust and feature-rich mobile app, which goes far beyond the basic functionality you'd expect to find on a centre website.

'Leveraging features such as our native rewards programme, integrations with member wearable devices and our digital referrals engine, Serco Leisure has built a best-in-class mobile app, which engages their users every time they work out.

'We're looking forward to taking this to the next level with our full native integration with their member management software - Legend - due to be completed in the next few weeks.'

The Birmingham trial period of More Fitness kicked off in September 2017 to coincide with the opening of the new Erdington Leisure Centre in the east of the city.

Already 8,000 members have downloaded the app in Birmingham, around 66% of all members across the region, with Erdington leading the way, with over 75% of all its customers having downloaded the More Fitness app.
