Serco has launched a drive to recruit talented candidates from the local community as it creates 20 new jobs in preparation for the opening of the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary in December 2017.

Serco has partnered with local employment experts, Dumfries and Galloway Total Access Point (DGTAP), to ensure as many local people as possible are given the chance to benefit from the employment opportunities available, including those who have previously been long-term unemployed.

Serco is due to manage the building plant and facilities at the new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary under a 25-year contract with NHS Dumfries & Galloway. The vital services Serco will deliver include maintaining the hospital's plumbing, heating, lighting, electrics, and fire safety systems, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment and supporting the wellbeing of the hospital's patients, visitors and staff.

In preparation for the hospital's opening, Serco will be recruiting for new positions from a range of key trades over the coming months including senior technicians and technicians (electrical and mechanical), crafts (plumber, carpenter, electrician, painter & decorator) and a service coordinator. Interested candidates can find out more about the roles available on our careers page.

Tony McLaughlin, Serco Contract Director said:

'We want to hire talented people who live in the local area so we can give the hospital a real community feel. Our aim is to build a team of people who are passionate about maintaining this fantastic new facility in the very best condition, supporting the hospital to provide the highest standards of care for the people of Dumfries and Galloway. Our vision is to be Caring, Safe and Successful, so we want a team committed to ensuring the best possible environment and support for patients, their families and the staff who look after them.'

The new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is set to receive its first patients in December 2017 and includes 344 single en-suite patient bedrooms. It includes a combined assessment unit, theatres complex, critical care unit, women's and children's unit and outpatients department.
