The local building committee in Gothenburg decided on Tuesday to propose that the city council adopt the detailed plan for Karlavagnsplatsen, where Karlstaden and the Karlatornet Tower are to be constructed. According to the schedule, the city council is expected reach a decision before the summer.

It was with pleasure that the message was received at Serneke's headquarters following the building committee's meeting on Tuesday. Although a decision by the city council remains before the detailed plan for Karlastaden and Karlatornet is adopted, the building committee's decision was a major and important step on the road.

'This is a milestone in the process - not only for us, but also for the city of Gothenburg. The city's public administration units and officials have demonstrated a great commitment and willingness to resolve the challenges of this unique project. Throughout the journey, we have experienced the partnership as favorable,' says Ola Serneke, CEO of Serneke and initiator of the Karlastaden project.

Among the roughly 50 employees at Karlavagnsgatan, where work on the design of Gothenburg's new district and the tallest building in the Nordic region is in full swing, this was also welcome proof that the work is progressing as planned and that another step has been taken towards the commencement of construction.

'This was an important interim objective! Together with the city's representatives, our organization has done a great job of delivering a large and complex detailed plan for a project that will really place Gothenburg on the map. We can feel proud,' says Jörgen Eriksson, President of Karlastaden Utveckling AB.

During the review phase preceding the decision by the building committee, 50 opinions have been received regarding the detailed plan. In its official statement to the committee, the City Building Office stated that the views of the referral groups had been met, after which the building committee proposed that the City Council 'adopt a detailed plan for housing and businesses at Karlavagnsplatsen in the Lindholmen district'.

According to the schedule, the city council is expected to make a decision on the matter on June 15.
