SGS has been accredited by the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation to be one of the training providers to conduct ZDHC chemical management training for stakeholders in the textile and footwear value chain.

This is a two-day interactive face-to-face training course which SGS is offering in key textile sourcing countries. The training consists of five modules including an introduction to chemical management, chemical hazards & risk assessment, ZDHC MRSL and best practice of SDS, use of chemical storage and PPE selection, as well as environmental impact and mitigation. The course supports manufacturers to develop an understanding and know-how concerning suitable practices for handling and managing chemicals at the procurement stage and within the factory.

SGS delivers the course in the local language and has adapted the course content with reference to local regulations, industry best practices and culture. This ensures participants understand the materials fully and are able to relate it to their daily work. To further strengthen participants' knowledge, audio-visual materials are used to demonstrate and elaborate the technical points that are being discussed. These training courses are led by highly qualified industry practitioners, many of whom are textile engineers and factory chemical managers with years of hands-on practical experience in the textile manufacturing sector as well as having in-depth knowledge of chemical and environmental management in the textile or footwear value chain.

During an interview with Mr. Spencer Yeung, Vice President of Global Softlines, he remarked that, 'As a ZDHC contributor, we are very pleased to become one of the qualified training providers. This enables SGS to support ZDHC in their mission and commitment in advancing the industry's capability in managing chemicals across the supply chain safely.'

Prospective participants can view the training calendar on the ZDHC Academy Platform and enroll for SGS-operated ZDHC certified training by contacting local SGS representatives.

To further your knowledge and capability, SGS also offers a process-specific and practical training workshop - a Hazardous Substance Control (HSC) Workshop. In addition, SGS partners with other international brands on different projects to address the zero discharge challenges across many work streams. Contact SGS today for more information.
