Zhaikmunai LLP is an oil and energy company based in Kazakhstan. The company required a major new gas treatment plant with a capacity of 200 million m3 of associated gas and 1.5 billion m3 of condensate gas per year.

The large-scale project required engineering and design of the associated gas treatment unit (AGTU) and condensate gas treatment unit (CGTU), and procurement and delivery of equipment and materials. It also required construction and commissioning of the AGTU, CGTU, power plant, LPG storage facilities, fire-fighting installations, technical water storage and sulphur storage facilities.

Independent supervision

Due to the size and complexity of the project, Zhaikmunai LLP needed an independent management partner with international and local expertise to ensure the compliant execution of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract and comply with the requirements for project financing.

They also required local expertise in Kazakh regulations, as well as international expertise in Industrial project management, construction management and supplier management, along with corporate integrity and independence.

With its reputation as the world's leading independent inspection company and extensive experience in major construction projects, SGS was chosen to provide project management and ensure that the EPC contract was executed correctly.
