"PCS's Protect & Sustain certification is really unique. Never before has an IFA member certified more locations and all three primary nutrients in one go! The fact that this has been achieved in three countries, makes this performance even more remarkable," said Volker Andresen, Director, Technical & Safety, Health, Environment Committee, International Fertilizer Industry Association.

"We're extremely pleased to achieve this certification. PotashCorp takes its responsibilities in these areas very seriously, so we think this is a real landmark for us," said Deborah Allen, Director of Product Stewardship and Security.

The International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) represents the global fertilizer industry, on issues related to the promotion of plant nutrients, improvement of the operating environment of the member companies and the collection and compilation of industry information. The Protect & Sustain certification is part of the IFA's Product Stewardship initiative, built on the 12 guiding principles of SHE management. By taking measures to ensure that its products are responsibly-developed, sourced, manufactured, stored, transported and applied, the Association and its participating members demonstrate their commitment to ensuring that fertilizer and their intermediate products are used to the benefit of all and that its inherent risks are at least minimized- and where possible eliminated.

Commenting on the success of PotashCorp, Jeff Dowson, International Sales Manager, Systems & Services Certifications, SGS said:

"PotashCorp made a very bold decision to certify their entire company in a single Protect and Sustain certification and gave SGS a challenge to provide the certification service. I am very pleased at the performance of the SGS team in meeting this challenge, and can only commend PotashCorp in what has been a unique and magnificent result, demonstrating a very well controlled product stewardship system right across their business, showing them as a leading company in their sector."
