SGS is pleased to announce that their facility in Lakefield, Ontario is officially recognized by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for meeting the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for 67 specific registered tests for the minerals industry, the largest minerals scope of accreditation in North America. This recognition demonstrates technical competency for a defined scope of tests and the operation of a laboratory quality management system and is evidence of SGS' commitment to confidently deliver the best possible results to our clients.

The Lakefield facility was the first minerals laboratory in Canada to conform to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 when they received this status for 10 tests in 2000. Since then, SGS has continued to work with the SCC to expand the scope of it accredited offerings and to meet the ISO/IEC standard of accreditation for analytical, metallurgical and mineralogical services. The Lakefield facility now conforms to ISO/IEC 17025 requirements for:

  • 55 analytical tests
  • 8 mineralogy tests
  • 4 metallurgical tests

The Lakefield facility is one of SGS's five fully integrated geochemistry, environmental, metallurgy and mineralogy (GEMM) facilities. It has been strategically designed to offer a full suite of integrated GEMM services for the exploration and mining industry. The Lakefield facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and its professional staff maintains high standards of quality and procedural excellence to ensure accurate, repeatable and timely data.
