SGS has recently established a textile testing laboratory at Madagascar, one of the important textile and garment manufacturing sites in the region. The new 160 m2 state-of-the-art facility is staffed by highly experienced technical personnel offering physical testing and services for a broad range of apparel and textile products.

The new capacity and testing capabilities of the SGS Madagascar laboratory serve the country's ever expanding textile industry by providing valuable and rapid testing services to local textile and garment manufacturers wishing to comply with international regulations and requirements. In addition to testing, quality inspection, compliance audits, factory assessment and loading supervision make SGS Madagascar a one-stop service provider for the country's textile industry.

Pascal Bezençon, Managing Director of SGS Madagascar remarked, "With the establishment of the textile laboratory, the Madagascar textile industry benefits from the increase support from the local technical expertise, shortening of testing turnaround time and reduction of cost. This will thus increase the confidence of the international buyers. Furthermore, in line with SGS direction, we will further serve the textile industry by expanding our testing capability in the near future."

The addition this new laboratory and facility will add new capabilities and capacities to the ever expanding SGS Indian Ocean/Africa network, as well as increasing the geographical footprint of the Global Softlines network.
