Indonesia's National Accreditation Body, Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN), has accredited SGS as an LSPro (Product Certification Body) for Baby Garments and Toys. This streamlines the process for SGS clients bringing products to market in Indonesia.

Following formal recognition of its appointment from the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, SGS can certify products and issue certificates for the Indonesian National Standard Certification Mark for toy manufacturers and importers. This accreditation means that SGS can now deliver a complete SNI service package - from application, through sampling and testing, to SNI certification and issuance of certificates for the SNI mark, building on the company's existing sampling and testing services.

'SNI Certification Body status means SGS's customers are able to utilize our extensive expertise in compliance management and take advantage of our one-stop testing and certification service,' said Hari Ananta, Toys and Juvenile Products Lab Manager, Consumer and Retail. 'We can now enable companies access to the Indonesian market with the shortest possible lead times.'

With its appointment as LSPro, SGS's dedicated service team can provide a smooth and efficient service for clients, to bring their toys to the Indonesian market with confidence.

Indonesia's Toy Regulation

The distribution and sale of toys in Indonesia is strictly regulated. Toys, whether they are manufactured domestically or internationally, must comply with Regulation of the Ministry of Industry No.55/M-IND/PER/11/2013 amending No. 24/M/IND/PER/4/2013, before they are brought to the market. All manufacturers must prove their products are compliant with Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and EN 71-5 for phthalates. Following testing and certification, manufacturers must receive authority to display the Indonesian National Standard Certification Mark, the SNI Mark.
