Siemens : honors 14 researchers who account for 1,300 inventions

Siemens zeichnet 13 seiner Forscher sowie einen externen Wissenschaftler als 'Erfinder des Jahres 2017' aus.
'Innovations don't simply arise out of great ideas alone; they also require great skill in implementation,' said Roland Busch, Chief Technology Officer of Siemens AG. 'All 14 of these inventors are role models in this respect. They pursued their ideas with passion and are successful on the market with their technologies.' Every year since 1995, Siemens has been presenting this award to its outstanding researchers and developers whose inventions have made major contributions to the company's strong performance. Since 2016, this award has also been presented to researchers from outside the company.
In fiscal 2017, Siemens filed around 3,650 patents worldwide - an increase of 150 patents over the previous year. Worldwide, Siemens holds about 63,000 patents. In fiscal 2017, Siemens employees submitted about 7,450 invention disclosures. On a basis of 220 workdays during the year, this figure corresponds to about 34 inventions per day.

- digital industrial equipment (28.2%): automated production, assembly, logistics and monitoring systems, etc.;

Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Germany (16.3%), Europe/CIS/Africa/Middle East (30.8%), the United States (23.9%), America (5.2%), Asia and Australia (23.8%).
