Singapore, 5 December, 2017 - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) invited more than 100 beneficiaries from Care Community Services Society (CARE Kids), Beyond Social Services (Jalan Bukit Ho Swee), and Life Community Services Society - Mighty Kids, Families and Community to its annual year end party today.

The lunchtime party at SPH News Centre Auditorium was organised in conjunction with Boys' Brigade Share-A-Gift Project which SPH has supported for the 12th consecutive year.

This year, about 300 wishes from 12 charities were adopted and fulfilled by management and staff, with the total value of the contributions amounting to about $20,000.

SPH staff volunteers engaged the children by playing games, treating them to buffet lunch, and distributing Christmas presents.

Mr Desmond Koh, Executive Director of The Boys' Brigade, said: 'The generous contributions by organisations and members of the public have helped The Boys' Brigade make a difference to the lives of many beneficiaries. We are grateful to SPH for their continuous support and contributions these 12 years, adopting wishes and bringing Christmas joy to the beneficiaries through a year-end party. We look forward to partner with more organisations to spread the spirit of caring and sharing.'

Besides this meaningful event, SPH, SPH Foundation and SPH's various products and business groups are also actively involved in community and charity projects throughout the year.

Business units across SPH took part in the 'Adopt a Charity' scheme initiated by the SPH Staff Volunteers Club, led by the Corporate Communications & CSR Division with support by the Human Resources Division. This is in addition to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, and the Chinese Media Group's annual support of President's Challenge.

For the 'Adopt-a-Charity' scheme, each business unit is given an annual funding of $600 to offset its expenses when planning activities for its adopted charity. SPH also gives staff involved two half days a year to be involved in the charitable activities. Various divisions would organise their own activities or charity outings for their adopted charities.
