New mobile plan enhances communications for persons with disabilities

Singapore 26 June 2014 - SingTel expands its Corporate Social Responsibility Community Programme with the launch of a mobile plan that specially caters to the needs of persons with disabilities.

Named Lite Special, the plan offers three times the talktime, unlimited SMS and double the data bundle of SingTel's Lite plan, with a 30 per cent discount off the monthly subscription. Customers will also enjoy the benefits of SingTel's super-fast 4G network, which provides speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Mr Johan Buse, SingTel's Vice President of Consumer Marketing, said: "Based on feedback from this group of customers, we understand that SMS, email, instant messaging, video calls and social media are important channels of communication. We hope that the generous bundles we offer with the Lite Special plan will make it easier and more affordable for them to stay in touch with family and friends. It is part of our efforts to build a more inclusive society."

As with all SingTel postpaid mobile data plans, customers will receive automatic SMS alerts whenever they have used up 80 percent of their data allowance, thus protecting them from bill shock.

The launch of the Lite Special plan follows the introduction of Singapore's first seniors plan in March, and the youth plan in 2007. As part of the seniors' programme, SingTel organised free clinics to help seniors to set up and get the most from their handsets, as well as provide tips on cyber-safety and using popular social media sites.

"We have seen strong take-up for these plans. With our technical expertise and resources, we seek to enable everyone in our community to take advantage of the latest technologies and experience the benefits of the digital world," said Mr Buse.

To subscribe to Lite Special, persons with disabilities can visit any SingTel shop or SingTel exclusive retailer outlet, with their NRIC and public transport concession card or equivalent documentation from SG Enable, an agency that supports the disabled.
