Singapore Telecommunications : Singtel renews partnership with Singapore National Olympic Council to support Team Singapore athletes

Singapore, 22 July 2017 - Singtel has today announced a renewed partnership with the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), further affirming its strong commitment to transform Singapore into a sporting powerhouse.

Under the five-year partnership, Singtel will support Team Singapore athletes as they compete in various sporting events, including the much-anticipated 2017 SEA Games, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Singtel will help fund the training of these athletes as they prepare for these events to promote and develop sports in Singapore.

Chris Chan, Secretary-General of the Singapore National Olympic Council said: 'Since 2012, Singtel has celebrated many momentous milestones with Team Singapore - two bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympic Games, historic gold medals at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games and Rio 2016 Olympic Games among many others. As Team Singapore gears up for the 2017 SEA Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Singtel will help the largest ever SEA Games contingent overseas, to stay connected with their friends, families and supporters while overseas, with its SIM Only and ReadyRoam mobile plans. That's on top of other fringe benefits to ensure that all sports officials and athletes are well supported during the Games.

Singtel is one of the earliest corporate sponsors supporting Team Singapore athletes to take the world stage. Since the 2012 London Olympics, Singtel has been rolling out a host of exciting initiatives to inspire the community and galvanise the nation, primarily by being the main sponsor and the Official Multimedia Partner for 2015 SEA Games held in Singapore. It has also been providing complimentary airtime and data subscriptions to help home-grown athletes stay connected while competing at major Games.
