Unterföhring, 24 November 2011. At the end of the
year, Sky Deutschland is once again expanding its
comprehensive international football offering to include
another terrific rights acquisition. On
18 December, Sky will begin broadcasting the top game of each
match day of the Serie A season in True HD. The new agreement
guarantees Sky the choice of one game per match day, which
will be available live and exclusively on Sky. In addition to
TV broadcast, Sky also secured the rights to live broadcast
on the internet and via Wi-Fi and 3G on the iPad and iPhone,
which are available as part of the Sky Go service. For the
time being, the cooperation initially is to last until the
end of the season.
Beyond live rights, Sky also acquired comprehensive news
rights to all games of the top Italian professional football
league. This means that Sky Sport News HD will include
extensive Serie A coverage.
Burkhard Weber, Senior Vice President Sports: "We are excited
that we can now regularly present games from the top Italian
clubs as a part of our international football offering. Serie
A is among the strongest football leagues in Europe, and is
especially attractive for football fans in Germany now that
Miroslav Klose is a part of Lazio."
The first game will take place on Sunday, 18 December at 8:40
PM when German national player Miroslav Klose and Lazio Rome
face Udinese Calcio. Sky will then show the make-up game
resulting from the cancelled first match day between Udine
and Juventus Turin on 21 December. For the start of the new
year, Sky will cover the match between Inter Milan and FC
Parma on Saturday, 7 January, followed by the Milan Derby
between A.C. Milan and Inter Milan on Sunday, 15 January.
Coverage on Italy's top professional football league is
available for all Sky Sport subscribers.
