TAGS Workshop, supply chain

San Donato Milanese, 18 November 2015 - Snam's fifth Suppliers' Workshop, an event dedicated entirely to the Company's supply chain, was opened today by the CEO Carlo Malacarne. The workshop, entitled 'Quality and transparency in the Company's relationship with suppliers', is aimed at consolidating quality standards and sharing a model of sustainable development from an economic, social and environmental point of view.

The event, held at Melià Hotel in Milan, enables Snam to share its strategy and objectives with suppliers, examining also the best practices the companies should adopt to ensure high quality performances in the various businesses. In this context, particular attention is paid to safety in the workplace and environmental safeguard. This approach allowed Snam to reduce the contractor accidents by 40% in the last three years.

Snam's investment realization, in which suppliers play a decisive role, also generates positive returns for the overall economy. In 2014, the Company stipulated more than 1,573 supply contracts (92% in Italy) divided between goods, labour and sevices. 60% of those contracts were signed with small and medium-sized enterprises.

Approximately 400 of the Company's 3,500 qualified suppliers are attending the workshop, which includes various speeches and panels about Snam's initiatives towards its supply chain and important topics such as the Ethics and Integrity Agreement in supply chain, the subcontracts management project, the supplier qualification criteria and assessment, eco-friendly and sustainable solutions for building and maintenance, Enterprise Risk Management and safety in construction sites and plants.

Through the yearly workshop, the Company aims at further promoting dialogue and knowledge sharing with its suppliers, thus ensuring quality and transparency in its relationship with the supply chain. This commitment, which is fundamental to the Group's growth and also to the benefit of the community as a whole, led the Company to launch Snam's Supplier Portal two years ago.
