A pioneering position
Lyon (France), 9 October 2014 - Aroma Performance, a member of the Solvay Group and the world's leading producer of diphenols and fluorinated aliphatic derivatives, has been awarded a string of certifications, establishing it as a pioneer in the sector.
More than six certifications or recertifications were recently granted to the GBU and its production facilities. "This truly remarkable feat, which is encouraging us to pursue all these initiatives, demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality, our expertise in food safety and our continuing quest for customer satisfaction," points out Pierre Seguran, Global Quality Director.
Reinforcing the Group's benchmark Quality approach with ISO 9001:2008
A pioneer in this regard, the entire Solvay Aroma Performanceglobal business unit and its component entities have been certified, indicating its total commitment to a Quality Management System (QMS). The Baton Rouge production facility in the U.S. and the Saint-Fons and Melle facilities in France were also recently recertified.
Scope of FSSC 22000 certification, the essence of food safety, also extended
Solvay Aroma Performance has held the FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification, the industry's global benchmark, since 2011 for its production of vanillin and ethyl-vanillin in Baton Rouge and Saint-Fons.The certification of the Saint-Fons Specialties plant has just been extended in scope to include in-house guaiacol production stage, upstream of integrated vanillin production; guaiacol is produced internally from our in-house catechol. "This recognition of our ability to ensure risk control throughout our product value chain, and now during this upstream stage, confirms our strong focus on food safety, particularly with regard to traceability, one of our main concerns,"Seguranadds.
With the recent certification of the Melle facility in France, which manufactures our flagship range of natural vanillin, Rhovanil® Natural, 100% of Solvay's vanillin production is now FSSC 22000 certified at global level.
More
The FSSC 22000 system for auditing and certifying food safety management systems in the production process and supply chain is independently managed by the Foundation for Food Safety Certification located in the Netherlands. The FSSC 220000 certification system specifically targets the food products manufacturing sector, using such international and independent standards as ISO 22000 and ISO/TS 22003 (audit), as well as technical specifications for sector prerequisite programs (PRPs), such as ISO 22002-1 (for food ingredients), which were developed through a wide and open consultation with a large number of related organizations. The FSSC 22000 certification system is supported by the European Food and Drink Association (CIAA) and the American Groceries Manufacturing Association (GMA). FSSC 22000 is fully recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Accreditation Bodies around the world (such as DNV GL). For more information, visit http://www.fssc22000.com.
