Press Release
Stabilus to present new POWERISE applications and other innovative solutions for the furniture industry at the interzum furniture trade

Luxembourg/Koblenz, May 16, 2017 - Stabilus S.A. (ISIN: LU1066226637) will present its advanced technology and innovations in gas springs, dampers and electro-mechanical drives for motion control at the interzum furniture trade fair, held in Cologne from May 16 - 19.
This includes the debut of a POWERISE electro-mechanical spindle drive in office furniture, namely in the next generation of a table classic, the Confair folding table from Wilkhahn. With the additional help of two gas springs, intuitive, safe and automatic opening and closing of the conference table, which can be up to three meters long, is just child's play. Ultimately, one person can easily set up and take down the table in no time due to the intuitive handling. The electromechanical drive is powered wirelessly by a rechargeable battery. This makes the table even more mobile, allows for space-saving storage and the flexible use of the office space.
Another innovation that Stabilus will present at the trade fair is the revolutionary new column technology for office chairs. Thanks to this feature, the same chair can be used as a mobile swivel chair as well as a fixed sit-stand work stool. This so-called sit-stand column will be used for the first time in the BALANCE.CHAIR office chair from Koenig + Neurath (K+N). With just one movement, the user can manually convert the swivel chair into a standing support by adjusting the cantilevered, mobile backrest. The chair column will automatically extend a stopper to the floor, which will stabilize the chair and prevent it from rolling away. Thanks to the technology developed by Stabilus, the chair combines the sitting and standing functions, making it the ideal addition to any sit-stand work space.
Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Stabilus, said: 'The new applications emphasize our competence as a system supplier for motion control. Together with the manufacturers, we develop innovative solutions that increase the operability and functionality of products, while, at the same time, being fully integrated into the overall concept. Considering that ergonomics and convenience are mega trends right now, the office furniture industry is simply stepping up to the plate with their products.'
Regarding the potential of the POWERISE across industries, Siemssen added: 'Increasing digitization often goes hand in hand with the automation of many functions for boosting user convenience and added value. POWERISE is a versatile product with a proven track record that is used increasingly outside of the automotive industry, gaining traction as the preferred solution for electromechanical motion control. We are already working on additional applications.'
Stabilus has decades of comprehensive experience in the development of solutions for motion control in different industries, ranging from automotive, machinery manufacturing, agriculture to office and kitchen furniture as well as medical technology and sustainable energies. POWERISE is a spindle drive with a proven track record in the automotive industry. It opens and closes trunk lids and tailgates of passenger cars. The technology meets the highest quality requirements. Gas springs, dampers and electro-mechanical drives from Stabilus are small, light-weight and flexible, allowing them to make pretty much any opening, closing, lifting and lowering as well as adjusting process easy and automatic. In addition, they can protect the products from vibration.
