TCF National Bank (TCF Bank), a subsidiary of TCF Financial Corporation (TCF) (NYSE: TCB), and Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) are extending MPS’ annual Mitten Tree Drive through Jan. 15. The extension provides community members one more week to donate new handmade or store-bought hats, scarves, gloves and mittens at TCF Bank’s 16 branches in the Milwaukee area and at MPS Central Services.

“With subzero temperatures fast approaching, we want to help students stay warm this winter,” said Lou Campos, director of retail banking at TCF Bank. “Our team members and customers have been incredibly generous with their donations, yet the need is great. We are hopeful that supporting the extended drive will benefit young people in the community.”

“More than 80 percent of MPS students are economically disadvantaged and they need our help to stay warm and safe during the winter months,” said Milwaukee Public Schools superintendent Dr. Darienne Driver. “We are grateful TCF Bank is offering its 16 conveniently located branches as donation sites. With more donation sites, evening hours and the ability to drop off items during weekend bank hours, we’re confident that we can help even more MPS students.”

The annual Mitten Tree Drive started on Nov. 30 and now goes through Jan. 15. This is the first year TCF Bank branches in the Milwaukee area are serving as public collection sites. In the past, the Mitten Tree Drive brought more than 1,400 winter items to students in need.
