Another step forward for BIM from Tekla and Intergraph

Tekla and Intergraph® have developed an enhanced structural data exchange link between SmartPlant® 3D and SmartMarine® 3D (collectively known as Smart 3D) and Tekla Structures that will provide better support for users' workflows and reduce modeling time on projects with higher quality. The integration capabilities were formally launched and demonstrated at the Intergraph Technical User Forum meetings, held on 2nd June in Las Vegas during HxGN LIVE, Hexagon's international user conference.

Thanks to the Open BIM approach to information modeling, this Building Information Model  exchange, using an enhanced CIS/2 model, allows better data transfer between Smart 3D and Tekla Structures. By replacing the previous CIS/2 import/export functionality, users can now pass additional objects with extended properties and visualize improved change management functionality.

Supportive to Tekla's multi-material functionality, the new exchange works with structural steel and concrete objects together and supports the transfer of traffic items like stairs, handrails and ladders.

Intergraph and Tekla have been working very closely to strengthen the partnership in order to improve the workflow within our mutual client's projects. A reliable data connection between industry software solutions benefits clients by reducing manual rework and reducing errors.

Patrick Holcomb, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine Executive Vice President, said, "Our clients want interoperability with tangible benefits for their work processes. We are pleased to work with partners like Tekla to enable high-value BIM exchanges for our mutual clients."

This enhanced BIM exchange is available to all users. You can find the link in the Tekla Extranet.

For a more in-depth information on the link, we recommend the webinar Better BIM exchange between Intergraph Smart 3D and Tekla Structures on Wednesday, June 19th, 2013.
