TelecityGroup, Europe's industry-leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centres, was among the top four companies in the 'Improved Data Centre Energy Efficiency' award at this year's DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards.

The DatacenterDynamics Awards are the leading awards for the data centre industry and recognise innovation, leadership and best practice. The shortlist for the 'Improved Data Centre Energy Efficiency' award recognises organisations that have upgraded existing facilities in order to meet energy efficiency requirements.

TelecityGroup has put continuous improvement at the heart of managing environmental impact. Established in 2009, the Group's Energy Management Programme has driven a number of industry firsts. These include being the first pan carrier-neutral operator to achieve Corporate adoption of EU Code of Conduct (2010), first to gain the Carbon Trust Standard (2010), first to implement ISO 14001 (2010), first to formally report CUE and commit to annual improvement targets (2011) and first to disclose greenhouse gas emissions (2014). This has been supported by the use of new cutting-edge technologies to minimise the environmental impact of its operations and a programme, initiated in 2013, to certify its data centres to ISO 50001.

John Hughes, Executive Chairman of TelecityGroup, said: "TelecityGroup continues to lead from the front when it comes to ensuring that energy efficiency is woven into the fabric of the company and we're delighted to have been recognised by DatacenterDynamics as leaders in this field. Our operations continue to set the highest industry standards in energy management and demonstrate the data centre industry's critical role in mitigating carbon use in the burgeoning digital economy."

Paul Mangles, Global Awards Manager, said, "As our recent London Converged conference demonstrated, EMEA has some of the richest data centre insight in the world. While the market continues expanding and the opportunities for sales in the market also grow, the buying process for products and services has become increasingly complex and opaque. Succeeding in this industry is no mean feat and it's important to recognise the businesses that are tackling the issues brought on by technology's rapid evolution. These awards are designed to do just that. There are stories of real success and achievement in the industry that need to be made public and this awards programme is central to that process; it is about the organisations, their teams and the individuals who make this industry what it is today."
