Dow participated in the V Congress of Women in Warsaw, Poland on June 14-15, 2013.

Speaking at the Congress, Sandra Kojro-Mizik, account manager, Epoxy, highlighted a significant role of women in the economy including development of different industries where a woman plays an important role. Sandra shared her personal experience being a woman in the commercial organization working for a chemical company. Sandra illustrated Dow's best practices to support women development, such as the WIN initiative (Women's Innovations Network) that allows females to utilize the community as a forum to exchange opinions and tips on how to develop a career journey and reach a certain level of balance between private life and professional growth.

"Our overall female representation in the professional ranks is 32% and we are diligently working to increase representation and we are seeing the results. We strive to attract, develop and retain the best and brightest female employees," commented Sandra Kojro-Mizik. "Dow offers different personal and professional ways of growth to reach different leadership level or to become a mentor or certified coach within the Company. Our WIN community is a women's innovations network that successfully supports leadership for more than 23 years to achieve a gender balanced workforce, equity at all job levels, through attraction, retention and advancement of women. At the Dow stand participants took part in the special quiz and learned more about the chemical industry and Dow's solutions in action. The Dow team explained what kind of products Dow offers for various industries, such as home and personal care, agriculture, packaging, clean water and etc.

Robert Stankiewicz, country manager of Dow in Poland, emphasized the importance of the Congress as a useful platform for women from different industries: "The Congress helps to unite many female leaders and exchange different opinions on the various topics, such as social life, policy, economy, environment, art and many others. For Dow this is the second time when we took part in the Congress and established a dialogue with the audience enlarging our network connection and sharing Dow's experience of equal opportunities for all the people," commented Stankiewicz. "Moreover this year Dow celebrates its 40th anniversary of our presence in Poland that is a real milestone in our history, in the history where female employees play an important and incredible role in the Company's development," concluded Stankiewicz.
