JOPLIN, MO - July 14, 2014 - The Empire District Electric Company has named Mr. Brian Berkstresser plant manager of State Line Combined Cycle. Mr. Berkstresser is responsible for all aspects relating to staffing, operation, and maintenance of the plant.
Mr. Berkstresser joined the Company in 1995 as an engineer at the Asbury Power Plant. Positions he has held include senior local projects manager at Asbury, production supervisor at the Empire Energy Center, plant manager at the Empire Energy Center, and assistant director of supply management.
Mr. Berkstresser received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He has also received a Masters in Business Administration from William Woods University. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Missouri.

Mr. Berkstresser has served as chairman of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas, chairman of the Webb City Park Board, member of the Webb City Planning and Zoning Committee, and is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
He and his wife, Terry, reside in Joplin, with their son, Declan.
