JOPLIN, MO - March 7, 2014 - The Empire District Electric Company has named Mr. John Donaldson director of System Performance. Mr. Donaldson is responsible for System Reliability, Vegetation Control, Outage Management, Electronic Mapping and Contract Construction.
Mr. Donaldson began his career with Empire on June 6, 1990, as a transmission engineer. He was promoted to protection substation engineer in October 1995. In April 1997, Mr. Donaldson was named construction designer, and in April 2000, promoted to senior construction designer. In July
2001, he was promoted to senior energy services representative, and in May 2002, he was promoted to manager of Line Engineering. In June 2003, he was promoted to manager of Line Engineering and
Contract Construction.

Mr. Donaldson received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of
Arkansas.
He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Missouri. Mr. Donaldson is a past member of the Joplin Home Builders Association board of directors and is past chairman of the Joplin Building Trades board. He and his son reside in Joplin.
