NEW YORK, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, TheStreet, Inc. (NASDAQ:TST) Chairman, President, and CEO, Elisabeth DeMarse, announced the appointment of Janet Lynne Guyon as Editor in Chief of TheStreet.com website. Guyon joins TheStreet from Investopedia, where she has served as Managing Editor. Before that, Guyon worked at Bloomberg News for four years, managing Bloomberg.com and editing "Top" news.

Guyon has more than 18 years' experience with Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal, where she began her career as a reporter and editor, covering corporate strategy, telecommunications and money and markets in the U.S. and Europe. After nine years at Fortune and four years at Bloomberg, she returned to Dow Jones in 2010 as managing editor of Fins.com, which was successfully sold after winning two SABEW's and doubling unique visitors. She is a graduate of Duke and lives in Manhattan.

"Janet is exceptionally well qualified for this position. The digital journalist of today must be skilled at doing video, social media, and incorporating search engine optimization, as well as developing sources and writing stories. They need to have charisma, as well as content. Janet is a true digital journalist and editor with a strong history in real-time financial markets and business coverage," said Ms. DeMarse.

Guyon takes over the role from Bill Inman, who will pursue opportunities outside of TheStreet. DeMarse remarked, "Bill's contributions to our company are too many to count. He has overseen the transition of TheStreet.com newsroom from a staff reporter model to a contributor model, while maintaining quality and story production. Our unique visitors have grown 50% under Bill's leadership. Bill also led the development of TheStreet TV, which has been extremely successful, recently being named an Official Honoree by the coveted Webby awards. Bill will always be a valued friend of TheStreet."

As Editor-in-chief, Guyon will have oversight of The Street.com editorial team, including TheStreet TV. Her primary focus will be working with the business and edit teams to drive the editorial mission of TheStreet.com.
