Transinsular - Transportes Maritimos Insulares SA is a Portugal-based company active in maritime transportation. It is engaged in the exploration of the maritime transportation of people and goods between Azores and Madeira, between the islands of Azores, and in the African Western Coast. In addition, it offers services of specialized transport of bulk, such as cement, grain, coal and other dry bulk. It also provides maritime transport of liquid fuels between the islands of Azores. As of December 31, 2010, the Company operated a fleet of approximately 25 ships, eight of which owned by the Company. Additionally, it had such subsidiaries as: STM - Sociedade Gestora de Participacoes Sociais SA, Transinsular (Madeira) - Transp. Maritimos Insulares Lda, Opertis - Gestao e Operacao Portuaria SA, and Mareverde - Transportes Maritimos Internacionais Lda, among others. The Company is 99.75%-held by TI - GEST - SGPS SA.
