Rio de Janeiro, July 19, 2017 - We refer to the material fact disclosed on July 18, 2017 to clarify that the suspension of the lawsuits related to the Samarco accident, determined by the 12th Federal Civil and Agrarian Court of the State of Minas Gerais, is until October 30, 2017, with the purpose of enabling the negotiation of a final settlement, as per the Preliminary Agreement between Samarco Mineração S.A. ('Samarco'), its shareholders, Vale S.A. ('Vale') and BHP Billiton Brasil Ltda. ('BHPB') and the Public Prosecutors.

The suspension for an indefinite period of time established by the Court in relation to the lawsuit filed by the Public Prosecutors is only intended to evaluate specific procedural issues on such lawsuit and does not affect at all the deadline of October 30, 2017.
