15,000th customer completes home energy assessment; Vectren seeks additional homeowners to participate

Evansville, Ind. - Electric customers of Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana-South (Vectren) looking to make their homes more energy efficient can do so with the help of a home energy assessment from Vectren. This month, the 15,000th home energy assessment was completed. The program has been offered since April
2010 and is available to Vectren electric customers at no out-of-pocket costs.
A professional energy advisor will visit the customer's home and guide them step-by-step through the process to produce long-term, cost-effective savings. During the assessment, the advisor will:

analyze energy use by assessing the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for operating efficiency;

directly install specific low-cost, energy-saving measures, such as CFL bulbs, energy-efficient sink aerators and shower head(s), to help begin saving energy immediately, and;

recommend appropriate weatherization measures after inspecting the home's air duct sealing, insulation levels and more to evaluate the home's energy consumption and heating and cooling efficiency.

To qualify, the customer must live in a home that was built prior to January 1, 2010; must not have had an assessment within the last three years; and must either own and occupy the residence or occupy the residence and receive utility service in the customer's name.
"We want to encourage customers to take advantage of energy efficiency programs, like the home energy assessment, which can improve energy performance and therefore help lower energy bills," said Robbie Sears, vice president of customer energy solutions. "As we transition from the heating season to the cooling season, now is the perfect opportunity to ensure your home is ready for southwestern Indiana's hot and humid summer months."
Vectren offers additional energy efficiency programs for residential and business customers. To apply for a home energy assessment or to learn more about Vectren's programs, customers can visit www.vectren.com/saveenergy or call 1-866-749-7206.
