Vectren moves to new Lafayette operating center

Lafayette, Ind. - Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana-North (Vectren) announced today it recently completed the relocation of its Lafayette operating center to the former FedEx warehouse on the south side of the city. The new facility houses approximately 40 employees, primarily in field operations, who serve customers in the Lafayette, Attica and Frankfort areas. The remodeled building provides office and garage space to accommodate positions that support the ongoing efforts by Vectren to modernize its natural gas infrastructure.
"The move to the new location marks a special milestone for both the city of Lafayette and Vectren," said Mike Roeder, vice president of government affairs and president of Vectren North. "We are glad to have found an existing location that allowed for our continued investment in the community as well as technology to help further enhance the service our customers receive."
The remodeled 26,000-square-foot facility creates a more modern operations center, including information technology enhancements and smart audio visual equipment for employee training, and replaces existing lease space. The move to the new location adds approximately $75,000 to the local tax base.
Vectren engaged Indiana contractors to design and construct the new facility, including many that are located within Lafayette or in central Indiana. Area contractors involved in the project include Edwards- Rigdon Construction Co, Cripe Architects, Brenneco Inc, Brennco Fire Protection and DARCO.
