Vectren's third quarter tree trimming schedules now available on Vectren.com

Evansville, Ind. - Vectren Energy Delivery (Vectren) has added the third quarter; July, August and September, tree trimming schedules to its website, www.vectren.com/trees, which allows customers to view maps of the approximate areas tree trimming will take place. In addition to the maps, an FAQ section and information on proper tree planting practices are available on the web pages.
"Our tree trimming communications is another example of our continuous efforts to provide customers with easy access to information they need to know," said Brad Ellsworth, president of Vectren Energy Delivery of Indiana - South. "The online quarterly schedules offer a quick reference guide to view what areas are being trimmed."
Because tree issues are the most controllable cause of outages, tree trimming is a vital part to ensuring the reliability of Vectren's electric system and is performed based on the frequency of tree-related outages and their effect on customers. Each year, Vectren spends $3 million to $4 million on tree trimming to protect its power lines, prevent outages and ultimately keep customers safe.
On average, tree trimming is typically done on a four-year cycle, but in some cases, certain areas might need additional trimming before the four-year period is over. Vectren and its trimming contractors will always give advance notification to property owners about tree trimming activities on or near their property before the process begins. Tree trimming is performed in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission and the National Arbor Day Foundation, which sets guidelines on proper tree pruning.
If a customer would like to report a tree problem near their home or business, they can contact Vectren online. For more information on Vectren's tree trimming practices, please go to www.vectren.com/trees.
