The ongoing Major League Baseball (MLB) season has taken a dramatic and highly unexpected turn.

What appeared all done and dusted some 28 days ago, now - at the end to the regular season - suddenly involves four teams with an opportunity to force a one-game tiebreaker in each league (the National League and American League) on Thursday.

With the fans across the continent already desperate to see what happens next, a thrilling end to the next part of the season also presents a unique opportunity for broadcasters to introduce new graphics and additions to storytelling.

When the playoffs finally get underway, Turner Sports will present its new graphics designed exclusively for the widescreen format, making 4:3-safe productions a thing of the past.

"Now we are able to give the HD viewer the value they purchased when they bought the HD set. It really does improve the experience”, says Tom Sahara, senior director of IT and remote operations, Turner Sports.

Also brand new is the recently launched Liberovision 3D replay system; Libero Playbook. In less time than ever before, the system brings together different camera angles and allows analysts to virtually spin around the replay to see the same play from different angles.
