Ivy Funds today completed the merger of Ivy Asset Strategy New Opportunities Fund into Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund, concluding a realignment that offers investors a single fund for emerging-market equities investments in any region of the world. The Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund has approximately $807 million in assets under management.*

The creation of the Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund was a two-step process:

  • Ivy Funds on Feb. 11, 2014, introduced the Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund, expanding the Fund’s investment mandate from its predecessor, Ivy Pacific Opportunities Fund. The new name reflects the Fund’s new focus on equity securities – primarily common stock – of companies that are located in emerging-market countries or economically linked to those countries.
  • Today’s merger combines into Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund the former Ivy Asset Strategy New Opportunities Fund.

“Emerging markets exposure has become important within investor portfolios,” said Thomas W. Butch, president and CEO of Ivy Funds Distributor, Inc. “With this fund – and an emerging markets local currency debt fund currently in registration – we are seeking to provide advisors and investors the opportunity to capture this opportunity within the Ivy Funds family.”

Frederick Jiang, CFA, CPA, and Jonas M. Krumplys are portfolio managers of the Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund. Jiang has 20 years in the industry, 10 years with the Fund and its predecessor. Krumplys has 32 years in the industry and managed the former Ivy Asset Strategy New Opportunities Fund since its inception in May 2010.

Separately, Ivy Funds today completed the reorganization of Ivy Managed European/Pacific Fund into Ivy Managed International Opportunities Fund. The Ivy Managed International Opportunities Fund has approximately $272 million in assets under management.*

Ivy Managed International Opportunities Fund seeks to provide investors a diversified portfolio of international equities and fixed-income securities by allocating across five international and global Ivy Funds. Each underlying fund invests in a diversified portfolio of primarily foreign equities of companies in developed and emerging markets. Ivy Emerging Markets Equity Fund is one of the underlying funds.

Michael L. Avery is portfolio manager of Ivy Managed International Opportunities Fund and executive vice president of Ivy Investment Management Company. He has 35 years of industry experience, 32 years with the firm and six years with the Fund.

Ivy Funds, with approximately $72 billion in total assets under management at Dec. 31, 2013, offers a broad fund lineup covering all major asset categories, including international and domestic equity funds, specialty funds, fixed income funds and money market funds.
