Marshfield, WI - Walmart and Sam's Club associates, customers and members recently wrapped up a six-week campaign to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) across the country. Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital partnered with 12 Walmart stores and one Sam's Club across north central Wisconsin and was able to raise more than $82,000, helping provide patient visits for more than 5,000 kids each year. Nationally, through donations accepted at cash registers and in-store fundraising activities Walmart raised more than $40.2 million for the 170 hospitals that make up Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and helps CMNH provide patient visits for more than 10 million kids each year.

"At Walmart and Sam's Club, we have always known that our customers, members and associates are extraordinary, but we are truly awestruck by the generosity everyone has demonstrated during our 2014 Children's Miracle Network fundraising campaign," said Mitch Cox, Walmart regional general manager. "According to a recent statistic, 62 children enter a Children's Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute. The donations collected over the six week campaign ensure that children at local hospitals, including the Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital, receive exceptional care and treatment."

This year's campaign is the most recent in annual fundraising by the retailers, as Walmart and Sam's Club have collected more than $740 million since partnering with the charity in 1987. Walmart and Sam's Club funds impact each of the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which treat 1 in 10 children across North America. Hospitals utilize the funds based on what they need the most-typically for purchasing lifesaving equipment, supporting top therapy programs and providing charitable care through a special needs fund.

"Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the associates, customers and members, children across north central Wisconsin will continue to receive the specialized care they need and deserve," Iilee Pederson, Children's Miracle Network annual giving coordinator said. "Our success with this fundraising campaign is just one example of how communities have a direct and positive impact on local children in need."

To raise funds, Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital partnered with local Walmart and Sam's Clubs to host a variety of fundraising activities such as brat cookouts, softball and bowling tournaments and jeans days that propelled giving totals to exceed previous years. Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital will be using the funds to benefit an array of pediatric programs and services and it impacts young lives battling virtually every type of childhood illness and injury. By purchasing innovative technology, such as the NICVIEW cameras, Ministry Saint Joseph's Children's Hospital is able to expand the care for our smallest patients and continue the quest to provide state of the art care for all of our patients, right here in north central Wisconsin.

The retailer's six-week campaign ran May 1 - June 13. Walmart and Sam's Club 2014 fundraising efforts will continue throughout the year at participating locations through various in-store activities. For more information on the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals visit: www.CMNHospitals.org.
