Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) team members pledged $70.5 million to nonprofits during the company’s annual Community Support and United Way campaign – a new company record – up about 9 percent from last year. Team members also volunteered 350,000 hours to community groups during the September workplace giving campaign, up 11 percent from last year.

“I’m proud of our team members’ willingness to give of themselves to their communities each year, in such great numbers,” said Chairman and CEO John Stumpf. “Whether they donate their time and talent, or their money, they’re helping create strong communities all over the country, and the world.”

For 2014, Wells Fargo team members have committed a total of $97.7 million to community nonprofits – including pledges during the campaign – marking the 12th consecutive year-over-year increase, and up nearly 10 percent from 2013. Wells Fargo has been named United Way’s No. 1 workplace giving campaign in the U.S. for five years in a row (2009-2013).

“Our company’s vision and values have always included a focus on promoting long-term economic prosperity and quality of life for everyone in our communities,” said Jon Campbell, head of Wells Fargo’s Government and Community Relations team, which oversees the campaign. “We could not do that without the commitment of our team members, who work with tens of thousands of nonprofits each year to create positive change in communities.”

During the Community Support and United Way Campaign, Wells Fargo team members have the opportunity to donate to nonprofits, schools or religious institutions of their choice. One hundred percent of their donations go to the organizations they choose, as Wells Fargo pays all processing costs. Throughout the year, the company also matches donations to qualifying schools, up to $5,000 per team member.
