On Saturday 8th July, Westfield Mission Valley, in partnership with The Rosie Network, hosted The Rosie Network Veteran Showcase to help military spouses, transitioning services members and veterans start and grow their own business.

More than 20 local military spouses and veteran entrepreneurs were on hand to sell their goods and services including:

  • INDUSTRIAL GRIND COFFEE - Female veteran-owned and operated micro roaster.
  • DICKINSON FARM & LARDER - Veteran-owned organic, diversified, urban farm and small batch pantry.
  • DOG IS GOOD - Licensor and international distributor of a lifestyle brand for dog lovers.
  • INFINITELY FIT - Female veteran-owned and operated fitness and wellness community.
  • COUNTRY REBEL - Custom woodwork and design.
  • NORTH AMERICAN FITNESS AND HEALTH - Providing opportunities for children to run, jump and PLAY.

The Rosie Network is a not-for-profit organisation that provides veteran and military spouse business owners with the critical marketing tools, training and financial resources necessary to launch and/or grow their small businesses in the communities in which they live and serve.

'We are honored that Westfield believes strongly in supporting our military entrepreneurs right here in San Diego by showcasing them at Westfield Mission Valley. Thanks to Westfield, our military entrepreneurs have a meaningful way to connect directly with consumers that will create great impact for their small businesses during and beyond the Veteran Showcase event,' said Stephanie Brown, Founder & CEO of The Rosie Network.

Along with live entertainment and other activities for families, Westfield shoppers were also invited to join Operation Gratitude in saying 'thank you' to all who serve by writing a personalized note or helping to create care packages for military service members deployed overseas and first responder communities in the US. The team collected hundreds of letters and sacks full of donated care package wish list items. More than 20 retailers hosted special in-store promotions to show their appreciation of the military community.

In addition, Westfield Mission Valley partnered with a local mural artist to create an 'art wall' which featured a map of the US on one side titled 'Land That I Love' and an interactive prompt on the other side which solicited countless guest responses - 'Thank You to our service members, veterans and their families. Because of you, I am free to…'.
